The Kennedy Center Honors this year will fete Oprah Winfrey, Paul McCartney, Bill T. Jones, Merle Haggard and Jerry Herman. The ceremony will be held December 5 and will be turned into a two-hour CBS special to be broadcast December 28. The honorees were selected for their American cultural contributions.

Enviros erupt at copper/gold/moly/silver project prospect near Mt St Helens

The prospect of even a small exploration drilling program near the site of one of the worst U.S. natural disasters in modern memory has environmentalists blowing their tops. As Ascot Resources announced they have begun exploration drilling on the Mt. Margaret property , a former Duval Corp. property located in the St. Helens Mining District of Skamania County in Washington State, Oregon-based environmentalists say even Ascot's small drilling program has no business disturbing the Mount St. Helens National Monument.

Charges revealed in international'honey laundering' conspiracy

The Federal Government announced charges today against a ring of foreign corporations and executives who conspired to bring antibiotic-laden Chinese honey illegally into the US, in an attempt to avoid paying millions in fees. A federal grand jury in Chicago indicted top executives of German food conglomerate Alfred L Wolff GmbH, and several of its affiliated companies for allegedly importing more than $US40 million in Chinese honey, but saying it originated elsewhere in order to avoid paying duties of nearly $US80 million that were levied on Chinese honey.

It's always interesting to note how candidates interact in the moments before a debate. We just concluded taping a debate between John Koster and Rick Larsen that will air on KING 5 News Up Front this weekend. You'd think these two might share some history, both growing up in Arlington and running against each other 10 years ago. But it's clear, they both have little in common on camera and off.
